What I really love about the suspension apparatus and how it’s slightly different than some of the other modalities using the suspension trainer. Which I’ve found to be relatively limited with a push and a pull or a plank and a bridge. What compelled me? The most of the Pilates suspension method is that it really incorporated all the families on this new piece of apparatus to the Pilates vocabulary.

So for me, it reinvigorated my passion for all of the movement in Pilates and the challenge of taking that to a new apparatus and finding a quality movement pattern that. Preserves the traditional organization through the body. And in particular, I love the fluidity and it really re touched my background into dance and being able to do that large fluid movement quality, and some of the advanced things and part of my yoga background as well.

How about you Janeysi? What is it that you love about the straps?

Janeysi

I mean, I definitely can agree with how it brings our dance background into it. I loved choreography when I was a dancer and I feel that with the straps, I get to bring that into the studio a little bit more than just the reformer, because we can move vertically, horizontally doing Arab best things up.

We don’t get to do too much on the reformer. That to me is my favorite. Should I say it brings so much more stability and awareness to the body as well. Definitely brings my inner dancer back though. Some differences that I’ve noticed with my body from starting training on the suspension apparatus was definitely muscle tone. Of course, we built muscle tone on the reformer as well, but getting ready for my wedding this past year, I needed to get ready fast. I kind of waited a little while to work out the way I want.

So I used my straps and worked upper body since my dress was strapless and we all want nice toned arms in our dresses. So definitely worked on the straps to work, not only toning my upper body. Realigning my posture because we all can get a little rounded through the shoulders. So definitely want it to make sure my posture was great on my wedding day, using this drops, I’ve noticed that just my technique in class has gotten much better, not just on the shops, but also on the reformer and the way that I take my confidence into my Pilates workout on the reformer from the straps to the reformer.

I definitely feel I’m a lot more in tune with my body. The biggest advantage that I have from doing the suspension work has to do with the osteoarthritis that I have in my knees. Um, probably about two years ago, the oh eight was so painful in my knees that I could barely walk up a flight of stairs or down a flight of.

Let alone do a squat to stand. The suspension apparatus has reminded me to work within my best alignment on any given day in a range of motion that has been pain-free. And having since done that, I have lost nearly 20 pounds and I can do a full range squat to stand without any pain in my knees whatsoever.

Hopefully for lifetime, not needing any kind of knee surgery. And I would have to say for me, that’s probably been the biggest benefit from working on the suspension.

Most people look at the straps and like, oh, I don’t want to touch them. I can’t use them. I’m not able to do a squat cause I can’t do in standing. But when you do use the straps, it does help with certain things that may not be accessible to you regularly. I think the biggest thing about the straps I think is that it is a ton of fun.

And when you learn to move with the good technique and you listen to your body and you focus on your alignment and you build progressively, we build those progressions class after class week after week, we build the strength so that you can then safely move into the. It’s a fun and challenging way to move your body.

It’s fun and challenging. When you learn to incorporate your Pilates principles in there that make it safe and effective for all bodies. And then it can be fun and challenging in a safe and effective way for all bodies at all levels, whether you’re beginner, intermediate, or advanced, there’s always somewhere to move to.
