Why is there such a difference with these quotes for my lighted sign (or illuminated sign)? Everyone has quoted me on the exact same lighted sign.
There are a few factors that affect the price of an illuminated sign. They include:
1. The sign company
2. Construction of sign
3. Interior components of sign
Think about the sign company you are using to do your illuminated sign. It is a big investment and should last for years. Will your sign company be there if there is a problem? Will your sign company stand behind their work? Do they have the appropriate insurance in case something happens? Pick a sign company that has a physical location and will stand behind their work.
Sign construction, some inexpensive signs use inferior products and will not stand the test of time. Will your sign company guarantee your sign does not hold water (which leads to shorts and burnt out LEDs)? Will they guarantee the sign doesn’t rust? Will they use the cheapest materials available, leading to premature fading of your design? A quality sign company should have no problem standing behind their product, they should also stand behind the life of the LEDs.
Interior components of the sign are important as well. Are the LED’s being used the cheapest available? If so they will probably dim very quickly. Are the other electronic components UL approved? Again, a reputable sign company will use UL approved electronics and provide UL stickers on your sign. This is a sign of lasting quality you should look for.
As you can guess the sign company working out of their house using cheap parts can quote a much lower price then someone who is going to use good components and stand behind their work. Isn’t it worth a couple extra dollars to ensure your sign lasts more than two years? It should last ten or longer.
Ask these important questions when you obtain your quotes, ask for proof if you doubt them. A reputable sign company will provide you with this information.
