In this article, we will touch on banner basics. Here is a list of terms often associated with banners.
- Weight - banner material comes in many different thicknesses. 10 oz and 13 oz are the most popular but you can get weights up to 18 oz or more
- Hem - The outer perimeter of the banner is folded over and either sewn together, or taped together. This provides extra strength around the banner.
- Grommet - these are the holes that are made around the banner and a circular metal device(grommet) is installed. These provide points to mount the banner from.
- Webbing - a cloth, ribbon like material that is sewn into the perimeter of the banner. This provides strength and can also help keep the banner flat. These can often be extended out from the corners to provide a way to tie down the banner (without additional rope)
In our next post, we'll discuss banner usage, and what options make the most sense for the situation.
