Start-up restaurant, Bobby Carl’s Table were looking for a sign company to bring their branding to life. They had very definite ideas of what they wanted, including a design for their logo and tag line. What they needed was a sign company that could make that vision a reality. The manager of Bobby Carl’s Table contacted Kingfisher Signs & Graphics to ask if there was a way to put writing on a clear glass window, so that it had the effect of etched glass. Of course we said, yes, as we have experience using Avery Dennison SC 900 Etchmark vinyl, created to mimic just such an effect.

Our first task was to cut the restaurant’s logo and a directional message from the AD SC 900 etchmark vinyl, in reverse, as the vinyl was to be applied to the inside of the glass. The restaurant manager was very pleased with the result, and following installation she asked if we could help her with a wooden sign to hang outside the restaurant’s main entrance, and a quotation she wished to write on the lobby wall, facing the entrance. The solution to both was a stencil, cut from self-adhesive vinyl.
The painted wall, where the quotation was required was especially rough textured and we suspected some vinyls might not adhere well to the paint, so small samples of various vinyls were tested for adhesion. With the right vinyl selected, we cut a stencil for the more than 6ft long quotation and two identical stencils for the 3 ft x 15 in wooden sign – one for each side. Application of the stencil for the quotation was achieved using felt squeegees, that allowed us to press the vinyl into all the nooks and crannies of the rough finished wall. The finished results speak for themselves:
