Summer Energy Saving TipsWe’re all ready to feel the warmth of the sun and enjoy all the water and outdoor fun summer allows us after a long, hard, and cold winter. Nothing is more exciting than living it up in a way you can do only during the summer. Yet, none of us look forward to seeing our energy bills as we struggle to keep the inside of our homes cool and comfortable. Summer temperatures mean more demand for energy, in turn causing an increase in electrical rates. The following tips can help your family stay cool and beat the high costs of summer energy costs.

Close the Blinds

Many households mistakenly open the blinds and windows hoping cool air will come inside their homes. In reality, opening the blinds allows the sunshine to seep into the home and heat things up fairly quickly. Close the blinds and keep out the sun to cool down the home.

Call HVAC Maintenance Pros

All HVAC units depend on regular maintenance to keep them running efficiently. Once per season, call HVAC maintenance professionals to schedule maintenance service. Not only will the efficiently-operating HVAC system cool down the costs of your energy bills but also prolong the system’s lifetime.

Turn on the Ceiling Fan

Turn on the ceiling fan to enjoy a six to seven-degree drop in the temperature of a room. Turning on the ceiling fan may allow you the luxury of turning the air conditioner up a few degrees to save money on energy costs. Make sure the blades of the fan turn in a counterclockwise motion to reap the rewards.

Thermostat 101

Set your thermostat at the highest possible temperature that is comfortable for your family. The ideal summer temperature is 78 degrees or higher. For every degree under 78 you set the thermostat, you’ll experience a six to seven percent increase in energy costs.

Avoid the Oven

Cooking with the oven can add unwanted heat to the house. In turn, the air conditioning system works harder to produce the same coolness in the home.  Cook meals that do not require using the oven. Better yet, bring out the grill and cookout! Absolute Air offers a wide array of services, including, but not limited to, AC installation, AC repair, heating installation, heating repair, metal fabrication (for all types of ductwork), refrigeration, and gas line installation.
