Oakland, CA-The Top Trending Office Design in Work Spaces

BY: Your Name, Your Business

During 2019 and moving into the next decade, activity-based work spaces are trending. In these types of work spaces, employees have the opportunity to choose between a variety of different work areas, each designated for a specific type of activity. Generally, employees don’t have their desk, but work in the station that best works with the task they are trying to accomplish that day. If you’re thinking of re-designing your workspace to be more activity-based, you need to consider certain zones and characteristics so your business continues to increase productivity.

Pods-These small, sound-proofed spaces are designed for quiet and concentration in mind. They’re the ideal space for making phone calls, virtual meetings and brainstorming solo before meeting with the team. Add some natural lighting and plants so employees can focus calmly on tasks.

Huddle Rooms-Work spaces often get busy and noisy, making it difficult to concentrate.  Conference rooms are often booked in advance, making impromptu private meetings nearly impossible.  The huddle room, a small meeting room, is ideal for these situations. It’s equipped with audio and visual software so your employees can discuss ideas and show their plans easily.

Office Cafeteria-While some companies may think their kitchen and cafeteria is just a social gathering, it serves as so much more. If your office kitchen and cafeteria is an open design, it allows your employees to casually run into each other when different departments normally wouldn’t. In turn, some cross-department collaborations form based on shared knowledge.

Research Library Area-The research area of your work place is a larger option of a one-person pod. It allows you to escape the noise, while focusing on an important project.  In addition, you have all the company’s manuals and research books at your fingertips.

Coffee Shop Lounge Area– Lounge areas include a casual vibe with a variety of couches and chairs, and tables. This is the perfect spot for employees to meet and collaborate on ideas casually and drink coffee.

Some work places have even added indoor bowling alleys or climbing walls as novelty ideas. While these may seem gimmicky, these social activities allow your employees to socialize and take a needed break.

Nowadays, it’s imperative to design and organize your work place in sections so your employees will feel inspired. If you need help, designing and organizing your activity-based work space, please contact Refresh Organizers and Designers at (510) 570-1292.
