When Steve Jobs introduced the iPad at a conference in January 2010, my first thought was to how could I use the device in my everyday life?  What would it fundamentally change? I decided just about everything.  From how our sales people make presentations (thanks to Keynote for the iPad)  to how we write letters (thanks to Pages for the iPad) and everything in between.  Frankly, there's not a lot most of us do on our laptops that can't be handled using an iPad. Then, my thoughts went to other aspects of the business.  From surveys to mystery shop performance, we could see a marked increase in performance. I then turned my thoughts to education.  Think about it.  Textbooks that can come alive, don't kill a forest to publish, and can expire at a set time.  It's a win-win all around.   The cost of a specific text can be significantly reduced, while updates are accomplished as needed.  The iPad, combined with iTunes U (a free repository of some of the best University level courses available at the iTunes store) could change the way we think of education. In the interest of fairness, I do own a few shares of Apple stock.  I've also been a fan of Apple Computers since the late 1980's.  (aka loyal customer)  It's because of this loyalty, earned by their product's ability to do what it says it will do out of the box, that we use Apple Mac computers exclusively. So, when you see a new piece of technology, ask yourself, "How would it make my customers' life better?" If the answer is in the affirmative, figure out how to implement it today -- before your competition does!
