Franchise ownership is a huge step. It is literally investing in the chance to make something grow with your business know how and startup company support. Of course, you want to succeed. Its your life savings! Many stories don’t always have the best endings, but they don’t have to be your failed ending to learn a valuable lesson. I have formulated a few of the mistakes to avoid in purchasing a franchise, as well as my own personal experiences that led me in the direction of helping others take control of their futures.
Not Following Criterion
I am sure when you first set out for what you wanted out of your business future, you made a list of what you want. Its always important to narrow that list down to the essentials of what is NECESSARY for you to be happy in your decision. I went through this myself in the start of my journey. I absolutely wanted to work from home. It was my largest criterion, and yet when I was told from outside sources to investigate business to business sales – I jumped right in. I was traveling all the time and learned two things.
One was that understanding business did not equate to being a good salesman, and that I had let go of my largest want for an opportunity that did not fit me or my goals. Mistake made, lesson learned. So, now I use this opportunity to tell all the clients I work with that we are finding the right franchise for them, even if that means the ones I work with aren’t the ones they are looking for. Know what you want and find what coincides with those wants. That is the first step to becoming a successful franchise purchaser.
Another mistake to be made is not knowing your value. As your consultant I know the terminology, numbers, and information to help you negotiate yourself for what you can handle and what you are worth. We will evaluate your assets, budget, and estimated returns to find a negotiating level to start and finish with. Don’t be oversold!
These are just two of the many things to consider in franchise ownership, and as your consultant – there are many more to share. At no cost to you, Franchise Maven consultant services will inform you, and guide you to the rest of your business future. We look forward to getting you there!
