Ordering your business sign can be a daunting task.  There are endless varieties of signs available. Knowing some of the basic terms can be very helpful when speaking to your sign company. Road-Sides Sign examples:  Post and Panel, Monument or Pylon Sign Typically a post and panel sign will be lower cost than a monument sign.  It is a one-dimensional service mounted between two posts.  While a monument sign is often constructed out of a solid material such as stucco, brick or solid base.   A pylon sign is high in the sky and is great for drive by traffic. Exterior Building Sign examples:  Blade or Hanging, Illuminated Cabinet, Channel Letters Blade or Hanging signs are often seen in areas with a lot of foot traffic.  An illuminated cabinet sign is the message mounted on box with an interior lighting source, typically above or on the surface of the building.  Channel letters are individual letters mounted to the facing of a building. Interior Sign examples:   Dimensional Letters, Lobby or Directional Dimensional letters are typically mounted individually to the wall.  A lobby sign is often placed on acrylic or aluminum.  Directional is signage that communicates the location of an office.   In addition, there are some types of signs that may be used in each of the above categories.  Dimensional and vinyl signs can be used as an interior sign, exterior building or roadside. Dimensional signs are a 3-dimensional sign that can be made from wood, PVC, polycarbonate or high density urethane.  Vinyl signs can be used for printed or cut signs.  They are typically printed and mounted to a secondary surface.  Vinyl is known to be a low cost yet effective solution in the signage industry.
