Step 1: Does Your Loved One Need a Nursing Home
First, we need to be sure a nursing home is the best fit for the senior. There are other options like assisted living and independent living, so we need to evaluate that they are not the best option for your loved one based on their needs, medical and physical. Here are the main questions:
- Is your loved one able to clean and bathe themselves without any assistance?
- Can your loved one prepare meals and eat on their own?
- Is your loved one capable of the general maintenance of their environment?
- Would your loved one be better off with 24/7 medical care or therapy?
I will sit down with you and discuss these requirements in detail.
We also will discuss what’s needed for the best-case scenario.
- What are your biggest worries?
- What hopes do you have for their care?
- Are you concerned about their mental health after moving?
I take all this into consideration when looking into the best nursing home for your loved one.
Step 2: Looking at Options in Walnut Creek
Based on our consultation, I will give you a list of nursing homes which I think will meet all the needs and expectations to ensure your loved ones are taken care of. I will only show you the best I can find based on specific needs and budgets.
I am more than willing to visit some homes with you so you’re not going into a property blindly and will know what questions and concerns need to be addressed.
Step 3: Narrowing Choices and Choosing the Best Home
After visits, we will sit down again and discuss the pros and cons that you think will be the most comfortable. I understand no one knows your loved one better than you, so I want you to be the decider.
Step 4: Moving to the Nursing Home
I’m here to help long after the property is chosen. I’m there for you and can help with moving, customizing a room so it’s just like home, and anything else you can think of to take a lot of the stress away from this incredibly stressful but much-needed move.
I keep in touch to make sure things are going well and to help solve any problems that come up after the move.
