Senior Living Advising Available for Alzheimer’s

If you or your loved ones have a family history of Alzheimer’s and you feel a loved one could be at risk for this life-altering condition, it’s natural to worry about their health and wellbeing as they begin to reach their golden years.

As a local senior living advisor, I work with people to help them find the ideal care facilities to meet their unique needs depending on their conditions. Many of my clients in the past have been in varying stages of Alzheimer’s, so I understand the difficulty which accompanies this disease for the patient and their families.

Luckily, there are many local care facilities which excel in Alzheimer’s care, and I would be happy to assist you as I have assisted many others in finding the right partner for their healthcare.

In the sections to follow, I will discuss a few common signs a person might exhibit if they are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. While this list is not comprehensive, I hope it can give you an idea of what to look for in the early stages, and give you time to secure the ideal care for your loved one if they do have Alzheimer’s.

Loss of Sense of Location

We all are aware Alzheimer’s affects someone’s ability to remember many things, and an indication of early stage Alzheimer’s is the inability to recollect where something is or in a worse case, where the patient themselves are or where they are going. This struggle to stay aware of their location can lead to frustration, fear and difficult situations for someone who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, and can be one of the first moments where the disease becomes a more real fear for themselves and/or their loved ones.

Difficulty with Memory or Recall

Memory loss is expected with Alzheimer’s, and it can take many forms as the disease begins to set in. An early warning sign might be a loved one asking a question multiple times in a short period, forgetting to pay bills or difficulty remembering how to complete a task which used to be second nature. These gaps in memory can affect the way someone goes about their normal routine, so if a loved one suddenly changes a habit they have had for years, it could be a sign to begin screening for Alzheimer’s.

Changes in Behavior or Mood

Alzheimer’s is a scary disease, not just for loved ones but especially for people who are affected. It’s hard to imagine, but if you think about what it must feel like to forget where you are or key pieces of your life, you can begin to feel some of the difficulties an Alzhrimer’s patient faces. Through this lens, it’s no wonder their mood can worsen, they might not be up for spontaneous behavior or they shut down completely. If you notice changes in a loved one’s mood which could be memory related, it’s important to provide love and support and get them the help they need.

If you have a loved one experiencing these symptoms or they have already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I am here to help. Give me a call today to learn more about my senior care advisor services.
