Nashville, TN - 10 Easy Real Estate Staging Tips to Boost Your Home’s Value

SYNOPSIS: This article covers ten practical staging tips Nashville homeowners can use to prep their home for the market and create the “this is the one” feeling for buyers instead of them just walking away.

How to Make Your Property Sell For A Lot More

Not every house needs a full-blown makeover before it hits the market. In fact, most don’t. What they need is a little editing, some intentional styling, and a few quick updates that help buyers walk in and feel at home. 1. Clear Off Surfaces It’s the easiest place to start. Kitchen counters, bathroom vanities, and dressers clear the clutter. Leave out a couple of nice, styled pieces and tuck the rest away. You’re not just tidying. You’re creating space that buyers can imagine themselves filling. 2. Open the Curtains and Let in the Light Natural light sells. Pull back those heavy drapes. Clean the windows. Swap out anything that blocks the sunlight. It brightens the mood of the whole space, and it photographs better, too. 3. Add a Bit of Green You don’t need a jungle, but a few plants go a long way. Something by the front door. A little potted fern on a shelf. Greenery adds life, texture, and warmth without feeling like “decor.” 4. Keep Colors Simple Neutrals work for a reason. They give your home a clean canvas feel, so buyers focus on the space, not the statement wall. You can add personality with pillows, art, or throws, but keep it calm and cohesive. 5. Upgrade the Small Stuff Switching out cabinet handles or updating an old light fixture can make a room feel newer without spending much. The same goes for door hardware and outlet covers. Small changes. Big effect. 6. Use Mirrors to Add Depth Mirrors are your friend, especially in smaller rooms or darker hallways. They bounce light, open up tight spots, and can help a space feel more intentional. A good mirror makes a room feel twice the size without knocking down a single wall. 7. Rearrange What You’ve Got Sometimes the problem isn’t the furniture. It’s where it’s sitting. Pull pieces off the wall, define a conversation area, or swap items between rooms. Just because it’s always been there doesn’t mean it needs to stay. 8. Take Down Personal Photos We know. It feels weird. But buyers want to picture themselves living there, not feel like they’re walking through someone else’s life. Swap in neutral art or framed prints that keep the space warm but general. 9. Dress the Beds Like a Hotel Would Fresh bedding, clean lines, a few throw pillows, and a blanket folded at the end. Doesn’t need to be fancy. Just smooth and inviting. Like a place you’d want to take a nap in. 10. Start With the Entry Those first few seconds matter. Sweep the porch. Wipe the door. Add a new mat and maybe a small plant. That’s it. You’re not just staging the inside but starting the story at the front step. Let’s get your place ready to wow. And sell. Fast.
