During your first time at an indoor range, you can expect to learn the basic structures and safety rules of shooting in a controlled environment. You can make your first trip a smooth one by listening closely during all safety briefings, keeping your firearm pointed downrange, and never putting your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
Some important items you may bring include your firearm, safety gear, valid ID, and proper range clothes. Your experience will be even better if you make sure to ask any questions you have and absorb as much knowledge as possible from the staff.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
The most important thing to do during your first visit is keep your ears open and listen. Don’t worry about asking too many questions; in fact, it’s the responsible thing to do. The staff would much rather you ask a lot of questions than act like you understand something you don’t.
No one expects you to be a pro day-one. Just make sure you understand indoor ranges are highly structured and designed with safety as the number one priority. All the rules will be explained to you by trained staff at our Phoenix location so you can have a safe first-time experience at the range.
What To Bring To the Indoor Range
If you plan to use your own firearm, make sure you follow your local laws regarding safe and legal transportation. For example, Phoenix law does not typically require a concealed carry permit to transport a weapon.
Another thing to bring with you is the appropriate attire. The weather in Phoenix is hot, but you still should make sure you are adequately covered when dressing for the range. If you have your own eye and ear protection, be sure to bring them along. Don’t forget to bring your valid ID with you as well.
First-time At the Indoor Range Tips and Tricks
If it’s your first time visiting the range, try and get there fifteen minutes early so you can start verifying your ID and filling out any necessary waiver forms. This will also give you a chance to ask any basic questions you may have before getting set up on a lane.
Be sure to listen well during the safety briefing during orientation. This briefing will go over the basics of responsible firearm handling and understanding range commands. Everyone has to start somewhere, so don’t be self-conscious if it’s your very first time handling a firearm.
