Accuracy at the gun range requires consistent practice and effective drilling techniques. Regular engagement in targeted exercises develops shooting and muscle memory. Our range has different drills for all levels of shooters. Performing these drills can improve your precision and control.
Dry Fire Practice
Dry fire practice helps you improve accuracy without using live fire. This drill involves practicing your trigger pull and sight alignment with an unloaded firearm. Set up a target at home or at the range and work on breathing, gripping, and trigger control. Regular dry fire drills build muscle memory, improve concentration, and pinpoint areas for improvement.
Dot Torture Drill
The Dot Torture drill is a great way to test and improve your shooting. It involves shooting at a grid of dots on a target. Each dot requires single shots, double taps, and controlled pairs of shooting techniques. Start with a short distance, then increase it as your accuracy improves. This drill sharpens your accuracy and helps with shot placement in all conditions.
The El Presidente Drill
The El Presidente drill tests your accuracy and speed. It involves shooting three targets from 7 to 10 yards apart. Starting from a holster position, draw your firearm, fire two rounds at each target, then do a mandatory reload and repeat. This drill trains you to transition between targets quickly with accuracy and control.
Bill Drill
The Bill Drill will improve your speed and accuracy when shooting in a dynamic situation. Pick a single target about 7 yards away, then draw six rounds from the holster and fire them as quickly as possible toward the center of the target. In this drill, you work on draw speed, sight alignment, and trigger control under pressure. Timing yourself and looking for consistent shot placement can tell you how you’ve progressed over time.
Controlled Pairs
Follow-up shots should be practiced in controlled pairs. This drill involves quickly firing two rounds at the same target with a firm grip and straight stance. Check your sight alignment and get your follow-up shot where you want it. Start out near a point and increase your range as your accuracy improves. Such a drill is helpful in self-defense when quick follow-up shots are needed.
Regular participation in shooting drills at the gun range is critical to enhancing your marksmanship. You’ll improve your accuracy and consistency as you progress through the various exercises. Be patient, as improvement comes with effort. Our range aims to help you become a more precise and confident shooter.
