This course is designed to convey as much practical information as possible and covers your family’s unique safety plan as well as key topics such as safe gun storage, learning about firearms including identifying different types of guns and how they work, and what to do if a child sees an unattended firearm, whether at home or elsewhere.
A large part of the course also discusses the five rules for safe gun handling. These rules apply to people of any skill level, from people who have never picked up a gun to our trained experts. They are: act as if any gun is loaded, always point a gun in a safe direction, never point at anything you aren’t planning to shoot, don’t touch the trigger until you’re ready to shoot and be aware of your target and what is behind it.
