The Glock 17 might be the most used handgun worldwide by police and military forces, and this is in large part to its simple but effective design. If you want something flashy, this isn’t your gun. It’s a straight-forward weapon with no frills, but the simple design makes the 17 one of the most durable and easy to use handguns you can buy.
High quality and durable materials are part of the reason these guns last for decades. The 17’s main frame is resistant to shock and extreme temperatures, and the steel slide and barrel are treated with Tenifer, which keeps the gun from corroding even in high humidity or when in contact with skin or in a holster frequently.
Even though the material is high quality, it’s lightweight as well. Weighing just over 2 lbs when loaded, the gun is comfortable in your hand and even though it’s a 9mm, it can be comfortably carried for everyday use.
Continuing with the theme of simplicity, the 17 can be taken apart for cleaning without the use of tools. A more experienced marksman or someone with a preference for different sights might want to change out the simple white bracket and dot sights which come standard, but for most people these will get the job done.
