Family is everything. That makes protecting the family super important. However, it can be hard to find ways to teach youth about self-defense, and more specifically self-defense involving firearms. That’s where we can step in and help.
Our family & youth firearm training classes are meant for all family members to take together. This way each member of the family can have the skills they need to be able to protect themselves and each other. This includes firearm safety classes as well as mentality classes for youth to be able to confidently navigate the world around them.
Family Firearm Safety
The first class we offer at our gun range is the family firearm safety course. As the name suggests this is meant for the whole family to take together and learn the basics of safe gun handling. It parallels our other introduction firearm classes, but is geared towards family units and youth who are not allowed in the adult classes.
This course is in-classroom instruction only. Students are taught rules for the safe handling and storage of firearms in the house. Children are also taught what to do if they find a gun in someone else’s home as that can be a jarring situation. The most unique part of this class is the discussion of your individual family’s needs in regards to home firearm safety.
Youth Introduction to Firearms
Our next family firearms class is designed as an introduction for kids over the age of 6 who have no shooting experience, but parents with shooting expertise. Kids will learn the basic techniques of shooting a .22 caliber rifle, including live-fire exercises on the range to practice.
Parents in this class are coached on how to make the most of a parent-child range time. Safety procedures are reviewed as well as the best practices to enforce them while still having a fun time. Parents will be able to practice these skills during the live-fire exercises. A parent must accompany each child student.
Refuse to be a Victim
This course is exclusively focused on crime prevention and the avoidance of needing self-defense combative techniques. This prevention strategies in this class include preventing crimes like criminal psychology, automobile crimes, and cyber crimes.
This seminar is catered to the needs of the current students and can vary in length because of that. It teaches the common weaknesses that criminals take advantage of in situations and corrective preparedness measures. Some strategies taught are home security, cyber safety, using personal safety devices, and carjack avoidance techniques.
