There are many people that may not feel comfortable carrying or shooting a firearm. They can be scary, and that is totally fine. However, self defense is still a very necessary skill to know in case one day it needs to be used to escape a dangerous situation.
There are many other tools that can help to give people an advantage over bare fists in a fight. One of the less lethal yet still useful and strong tools is the expandable baton. However, simply carry a baton around and swinging it during a fight is not enough to actively be a defense. But, we at C2 Tactical offer a classes specifically on the expandable baton and how to use it effectively for self-defense.
In this class, we learn many simple techniques to self-defense that can be applied to the baton and many other tools such as pepper spray or Kubaton. It is great for students of all ages and sizes as it’s never too early to learn how self-protection. Anyone who is excited and energized about learning to use the baton is welcome for both classroom and hands-on practice time during this 4-hour class.
The most important concept to understand about our baton defense class is that it’s focus is on learning self-defense in confined spaces. It’s these spaces and situations that students may find themselves unable to use other forms of self-defense such as firearms. You will collaborate closely with classmates in order to learn and perfect technique, attacks, and understand best practices of the baton.
Some more focus areas of this course include understanding the legal use of both physical and deadly force. This includes the proper carry and deployment, proper use of basic self-defense techniques, and maintenance of your baton. These are all essentials to know if carrying a baton. Even when acting in self-defense there can be some issues in the aftermath conflict and knowing all of these aspects and becoming well-rounded in the baton is imperative.
It is important to understand that the baton is considered a weapon and should be treated as such. Our instructors are highly trained, and many have a background in law enforcement or military. They bring this unique knowledge to class that can’t be found anywhere else. It contributes to our student’s knowledge base and ensure they have all of the information they need to be able to be practical and responsible baton holders.
It’s important that students come in comfortable clothes ready to learn and be active. While there is a bit of classroom time to go over baton maintenance and basics, much of the 4 hours is going to be hands-on practice. This can be physically strenuous as we do repetitions and perfect the small things to have effective attacks and defenses.
