INTRO:

Hi, my name is Danny Creed, and I'm an internationally renowned Master business coach. THE CLIENT:

“Let’s start a business!” I think this is the dream for almost any best friend duo. You have similar interests and hobbies, and you love spending time together. Plus, what could be better than getting paid to spend all day with one of your favorite people? This is exactly what a couple of my clients thought when they chose to go into business together.

The developmental and formative years of the business was the dream they thought it was going to be; it was both fun and productive. As they made more money, they were able to expand and open multiple divisions with a strong employee base. Unfortunately, as the business continued to grow, so did their aspirations. They began differing on important decisions and ultimately their relationship became severely fractured. This is actually not an uncommon outcome in these types of situations.

Both of these individuals were completely invested in the business and wanted it to succeed, but they were not aligned. Eventually, the contentious relationship began to negative affect the business. They had nearly four years of stagnated growth when they decided they needed to enlist help from a neutral third party. I became their business coach and together we were able to turn the business around.

THE SOLUTION:

When I met with these clients, it was very clear to me that they had the best of intentions for their business. I also could see quickly that they had thankfully laid a strong foundation years ago. There was still a lot of potential here, they just needed help facilitating a way forward. I was able to act as a mediator during the tough conversations and offer advice when it came to compromising.

We started by creating a clear division of responsibility for each of them and their teams. We spent a considerable amount of time defining how we were going to measure the success of those responsibilities and produced clear cut metrics. From there we created organizational charts that showcased every employee and how they fit into the greater organization. We also reviewed new complementary revenue streams to reignite the growth that had been so present in the early years of the business.

Before I partnered with these clients, there was a hovering divisive energy within the business. This was eliminated by communicating those clear goals and responsibilities to each division, all employees and their managers.

THE RESULT:

As much as I would like results to be apparent overnight, they often are not. These clients had a main goal of reversing their 4 years of stagnant growth. Within one year of partnering with these individuals and offering my business coaching program, their growth exceeded by 3x the previous years.

When leaders are divided on a company’s goals and initiatives, it trickles all the way down to the front-line employees. We worked hard to eliminate these negative experiences for all, repair the relationship between the founders and set the business up for success for years to come.
