At our community, known as The Village, we provide a warm and inclusive setting for families and their children to grow together spiritually. We believe in the innate goodness within all people, and our youth and family ministries exemplify this core principle through the sense of community, love, and empowerment for each child and their family who participates in the ministries.
Age Group-Based Programs
Our youth and family Ministries at the Oakland Center for Spiritual Living are offered carefully to fit into the developmental needs of varied age groups. Each program has age-appropriate lessons, activities, and spiritual guidance that will help kids deeply understand and live the principles of the Science of Mind.
- Nursery & Preschool: Our youngest attendees have a safe, loving environment where they are introduced to the concepts of love, kindness, and connection. We plant the seeds for future spiritual growth through gentle play, stories, and music.
- Elementary Age: Ages 5-12 years: Interactive sessions of spiritual living, such as storytelling, art, and games, teach the children the basics. These sessions help kids learn about their inner power and how using positive thinking works for them.
- Teenagers (13-18 years old): The teen program is provided to inspire deeper spiritual self-discovery and self-expression. To this end, teenagers are encouraged to bring spiritual principles into daily living, meet challenges with a positive attitude through discussion, mentorship, and projects.
Special Activities and Events
In addition to the regular programs in Sunday youth and family, special activities and events take place during the year. These events provide the time for families to reach out to one another, share experiences, and celebrate their spiritual journeys in good company. Some of the highlights include:
- Family Service Projects: Families work together to participate in community-based service projects, reinforcing values about compassion, kindness, and giving. The projects will help children realize that service is a powerful tool and contributing to others’ well-being is important.
- Seasonal Celebrations: Holiday gatherings, family picnics, spiritual festivals are organized to have fun, fellowship, and reflection of spiritual meaning.
Supporting Parents and Carers
Our youth and family programs are not just for kids; we consider that parents and guardians are very powerful facilitators of spiritual growth for their families. We also offer support and resources for the parents to encourage the spiritual development of their children, as well as delve deeper into the teachings for themselves.
We empower parents through parenting workshops, discussion groups, and individual spiritual counseling to establish an at home atmosphere that is nurturing, supportive, and spiritually fulfilling.
