How Will Acupressure Help?
Acupuncture (using very thin needles) and acupressure (using light pressure that doesn’t break the skin) are both renowned for their ability to calm the nervous system. Of the more than 400 acupuncture points on the body there are quite a few that directly address the emotions and your child’s stress response. Your acupuncture practitioner will take a careful look at your child’s history and will observe your child in the clinic to determine the areas of imbalance that are leading to behavioral problems, frustration, anger, and/or anxiety. Once the practitioner understands your child’s unique constitution, the practitioner will use a customized set of points using either pressure or needles to create change in your child’s body.
Most children find these sessions relaxing and enjoyable! Often some change is noticed after the first treatment, but repeated treatments are typically needed for a period of time to adequately resolve the behavioral concerns.
What Can Brain Integration Do?
Brain integration is a specialized technique that not all acupuncturists have the skills to apply. Specially trained practitioners will conduct diagnostic tests using kinesiology in order to determine how the eyes and ears are communicating with the brain. Practitioners will then use acupressure points and other techniques to restore or adjust the brain connections that may not be working adequately.
