This winter in the Bay Area has been unusually tough. With the coldest and wettest weather in many years, a number of vicious colds and flus are circulating. I’m pleased to be able to support my patients with immune-enhancing acupuncture and herbs to ensure that they’re resilient throughout the season.
Last season I had the pleasure of working with a 62-year-old woman who was constantly getting sick. Within the last year, Annalisa had pneumonia once and bronchitis twice, and was forced to be on daily asthma medications. She had a raspy voice and continually felt like she had to clear her throat. Annalisa was cold all the time and said that her strength and ability to fight illness had left her. Her life had shrunk to working at her job, and otherwise mainly resting and reading. I assured her that with Chinese herbs and some acupuncture treatments she would be back to feeling like her old self.
I worked with Annalisa six times over two months. I prescribed her a Chinese herbal formula with antimicrobial and immune-enhancing properties. After each treatment she felt a bit better – her body temperature was warming, her throat was clearing, she had more energy, and she had begun to exercise again after having felt too weak to do so previously. Her breathing felt stronger at each appointment and she was relieved to not feel vulnerable and weak anymore.
Annalisa continued to take the herbs to address her low immunity for several more months after we worked together. While she loves acupuncture and the feeling of warmth and calm that she gets during the treatments, she hasn’t found the reason to come for acupuncture in more than a year.
If you’d like to be an immune-enhancing success story, give me a call so we can get your treatment started. I look forward to meeting you!
