Today we are going to answer the question, “What is sewer epoxy lining?” It’s pretty simple. It’s a two-part epoxy mixed together and then inserted into a felt liner. That felt liner infused with epoxy is then inserted into the drainpipe and left to cure. Your pipes are left completely renewed from the inside. It essentially creates a new pipe within the old one. First, the epoxy infused felt liner is inserted into an air housing (a large pipe like device that will be used to push the felt liner into the pipes using air pressure). The air hose is attached to the air house and the felt liner is then blown into the pipe, taking on the shape of the pipe. The bladder that the felt liner has passed through is cut and a balloon is then inserted and inflated to solidify the epoxy to the shape of the pipe. Once that is finished, the balloon is removed and the process is complete.

What are the benefits of relining my pipes with epoxy?

In short, epoxy is extremely durable. Sewer Surgeons has installed over a hundred thousand feet of pipe relining and never had one break or fail. It increases the longevity of your already existing pipes, keeping them protected from any further corrosion or damage for decades to come. The cost of ordering a pipe relining service varies widely from both company to location. Costs are slightly higher for commercial application, though every home and business will have a different situation that needs to be considered. Size, location, and depth of the pipes are also important variables that will be measured by your local professional. The type of epoxy weighs heavily on the influence of the cost, and is completely dependent on the material of choice by the company. Lastly, yes, the pipe relining does reduce the size of your pipes, but only by a very small margin. You can expect the reduction to be about a quarter of an inch. This much space will not change the behavior of the flow of your pipes in any way, as a matter of fact, the brand new surface will only help to increase the flow of your pipes! If your home is experiencing symptoms of the trouble caused by faulty or damages pipes, consider ordering a pipe relining. Give Sewer Surgeons a call at for an evaluation of your home’s plumbing and to discuss whether or not a pipe relining is right for you. Certain conditions call for a complete pipe replacement, however, the convenience of our pipe relining service makes it very applicable and affordable in most cases.
