Where do you start? How much do you spend? Should I design the graphics or hire a professional? These are all important questions to consider before you attend your next tradeshow event. The most basic, cost effective element in your booth design is your banner. There are a variety of banner styles to choose from, so let’s start out with types of banners. Retractable Banners Retractable banners are great because they come in a variety of sizes and are easy to transport. You simply retract the banner from a base, much like a window shade. When you are finished you retract the banner back into the base for easy storage. Because the orientation of the retractable banner is vertical, there can be some design challenges. You don’t want to have a lot of empty space on the banner, but you also don’t want to have too much information either. Strike the perfect balance between conveying relevant information to the viewer but keeping the design simple, but bold. Flag Banners Flag banners are great because of their versatility. They can be set up indoors and out, and because of the unique shapes and sizes available, you can really get the attention you want at your next event. An important consideration in booth design is that you want to make sure that you are visible and legible from down an aisle on the showroom floor. A flag banner will most certainly accomplish that. When designing your flag banner, ask yourself the question, what is the banner attempting to accomplish? Is it purely decorative or do I want to convey a message? Are you announcing something exiting that is happening in your company or are you just directing the customers to your booth? Regardless of the type or purpose of your banner display, the design is essential to the overall success of your message. If your banner is conveying a message, make sure you give your potential client a reason to stop. A catchy or controversial message is sure to get their attention.
