The minimum size required to fit an LED light would be a width of around 8 inches.  But if you want to make a sign that is only 8 inches wide, I would recommend that you choose a different type of sign such as dimensional letters that are non-lit.  These can be made with steel or aluminum depending on your preference and your budget.  With Channel letters your goal is for passersby to be able to see your sign clearly.  The larger your sign, the more visibility it will have and will be able to reach a larger audience resulting in drawing more customers and more business. How large can my Channel letter sign be? A large sign is great for attracting attention to your business, but there are some things you need to keep in mind.  The sign needs to be in proportion of the storefront or other wall space where you are placing the sign. The larger the channel letter sign, the stronger the material you will need to use and with the larger size, the price will also likely increase as you’d have to have more LED lights and more material to produce it.
