Routed HDU Sign on Stone Monument

When compared to wood, HDU has the advantage. HDU will not warp, crack or bow like solid wood when exposed to the elements. It is a little lighter than wood, making it easier to handle, which also cuts shipping costs. HDU can be laminated together to create any size, shape or form. Many manufacturers warrant the HDU for 10 years. The down side to HDU is that it can have a slight flex when used in a long narrow sign. When using between posts or bridging it between supports, it is best to reinforce it with a backing board or put a frame around it.Routed HDU Post & Panel Sign

Wood cracks or warps and goes through stress with climate changes. There is no warranty for wood and it can be quite heavy. Joining wood pieces together is more labor intensive than HDU. However, when properly treated or painted, wood can offer a very long lasting exterior sign. Give us a call at Signs & More, Inc.
