Atlanta, GA - Why We Moved the Georgia Department of Labor Sign Up on the Wall

SYNOPSIS: After two vehicle crashes in about a year, Signs and More redesigned the Georgia Department of Labor's monument sign as an engineered wall-mounted sign, safely above street traffic.

A Sign That Keeps Getting Hit Needs a New Plan

A good sign company will replace or repair your broken sign again and again, but the best sign companies will take a step back to understand the bigger issues so this doesn't happen year after year. Signs and More aims to see their quality, manufactured signs succeed for years to come, holding up against the weather and busy streets.

When approached by the Georgia Department of Labor about a vehicle collision into the Georgia Department of Labor monument sign, Signs and More was ready for a major sign repair. After another call about the same type of incident, about a year later, it was time for a different approach. Instead of rebuilding the same sign that clearly had issues at ground level, Signs and More worked with the client to come up with a wall mounted version of the sign that would not experience the same fate as the old signs did.

Signs and More offered the Georgia Department of Labor two different options. Rebuild the sign as we did before, using as much of the old sign as possible, essentially the same solution we offered after the first crash. Salvaging undamaged pieces, redoing the base, and getting the sign back to its original condition. But we also offered an entirely different approach, using inspiration from other downtown locations. Instead of a freestanding structure at ground level, mount the sign to the wall, high enough that it would be out of the way of potential vehicle traffic. This of course came with a lot of extra planning and engineering, but we knew this option would potentially give this new sign more time to shine. We ensured the weight of the sign would stand up to the wind and other harsh conditions by preparing professional engineer certified drawings, built specifically for this wall, sign, and the history of the location. We still were able to reuse parts of the damaged sign to save money.

When the client decided that a new sign design would be best, Signs and More handled all of the little details from engineering, permitting, fabrication, and installation of the new, wall mounted sign. We strive to enhance customer satisfaction, not just boost profits, handling your signage needs from start to finish.
