Now that the legislative session in Washington DC has officially begun, many national professional associations can continue with their plans of organizing special events for their members to travel to Washington, DC in order to meet with legislators and other policymakers that can have an influence on their profession. These meetings with legislators and policymakers are a benefit of belonging to national associations. By belonging to these national professional associations, the individual members have access to the legislators and policymakers in Washington, DC in order to educate them on the issues that are important to the national association and its members. These meetings are not only valued by the members of the national associations but they are also valued by the legislators and their staff because it gives them an insight into the issues that are important to their constituents. As for the professional national association, these meetings are also important because they can share with their members the important role that they as an association are playing and why it is important to belong to associations like them.
