Chicago has long had the moniker of the “Second City” and although the name was given long before the advent of national trade organizations and national professional associations it also fits the bill when it comes to being the home of these types of associations. The Greater Chicago, IL area has a great concentration of headquarters for national trade organizations and national professional associations that represent the interests of particular professions. In this particular case though Chicago would be second to Washington, DC, which has a great number of national headquarters for these types of national associations.
