FRIENDLY AVENUE GETS A NEW FRIENDLY FACE.  A DELIGHTFUL MONUMENT SIGN THAT IS SURE TO MAKE YOU SMILE For the past 30 years, The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry (www.greatkidssmiles.com) has been treating children and teens in a fun, low stress environment.  More specifically, they’ve been providing specialized comprehensive, preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs. More importantly however, the facility and staff deliver an experience unlike any other in the Triad.  From the moment one enters the practice, one is surrounded by vibrant colors, a playful setting and laughter.  Always laughter.  Because, after all, that’s when teeth shine their brightest! For the past 20 years, visitors have been greeted by a pleasant, bright, utilitarian sign.  A sign that served its purpose by delivering the business name, address and doctor’s names.  Hidden in the business's logo for many years was the lovable “Toothy”.  You had to look hard to see him but he always was there with a subtle wave, ready to greet his guests. [caption id="attachment_1428" align="alignleft" width="286"] OLD MONUMENT SIGN[/caption] In the summer of 2017, a meeting was held amongst the stake holders and a decision was made to create a new sign that would greet visitors, patients and passersby in a manner that better reflected the personality of the practice. Several sign companies were brought in to share ideas and designs and what resulted from this collaboration was a sign that will serve the practice and the city proud for many years to come. In the end, Carolina Custom Signs & Graphics was selected to build and install the sign.  Owner Des Laffan comments; “This is one of those fun projects that you only get to be involved with once a year or so.  The team at The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry was a joy to work with.  They were both enthusiastic and serious about what they do, which fits in with how we work.  We’re excited to be a part of what’s certain to become a new Greensboro landmark!”. The new monument sign is a custom fabricated box with acrylic letters.  Some of the lettering is push through to allow illumination while others are not.  The feature element is a custom-shaped illuminated cabinet cut in the shape of the lovable Toothy.  The sign sits on a base of bricks that match the building. Immediately, the sign created a buzz around town and was an immediate hit with kids and parents.  The Greensboro Center for Pediatric Dentistry will continue to delight patients for many years to come and their new monument sign will lead the charge.
