Has your house been affected by water damage?

Water damage is a very serious issue despite its inoffensive name. Water damage can be a cause of concern for your house, property, furniture, and belongings. Water increases humidity around affected areas. This makes the affected areas more susceptible to rot, fungus, disease, algae, mold, and other growths. You should not delay treatment for water damage in your home since it can become very dangerous. The value of your property will also be affected from water damage.

If you spot the following signs in your house, then it is time for water damage restoration. Keep a mindful eye for these signs, especially around rainy periods.

Wet Walls

Wet walls are an obvious sign that water has leaked into your walls from somewhere. The source of the leaks needs to be identified. Most commonly, a broken roof or a leaking pipe are the culprits. Wet walls will show the signs near the bottom of the wall where water goes down. This is often referred to as the problem of seepage. There are other tell tale signs of this issue as well. The paint will begin to chip and crack as it becomes bloated from the water. Wallpapers may start to peel and come off as the water removes the wall adhesive.

Increased Humidity

If any room in your house feels more humid then water damage is the likely cause. Water damage increases the overall humidity in a room because of the water present. This gives the affected room a sticky and clammy feel. You might also feel something off in the smell and air of the room.

Mold

If you spot mold then this indicates the problem has become very severe. Mold growth means water damage was persisting since a long time and neglected. Water inundation in walls creates the perfect conditions for mold to grow. The problem with this is that mold may not even be apparent. It is oftentimes found in dark and damp places which don’t receive much attention. Moreover, it can also grow behind walls behind the paint and wallpaper.

You will feel an annoying feel in the back of your throat and stuffiness in a room affected with mold.

Pooling Water

Water pooling around inside your house without any discernible source means water damage is the likely reason. Water can pool in the corners of a room or alongside the walls.

Dripping Ceiling

If your roof is dripping then it obviously means you water damage restoration work is needed. Dripping ceilings often happen in rains and storms. The water manages to find a way inside your house from a crack or gap in the roof. It collects and begins to drip down through the ceiling. You should be quick to get such an opening patched up since it can cause massive damage.

Inadequate Heating/Cooling

Increased water levels will also impact the efficient working of your AC system. Increased humidity makes it harder for temperature control to be achieved.
