Apartment complexes require many different types of signs, some that have strict guidelines such as ADA signs. We made many different types of signs for The 505 Apartments, USC student housing in Los Angeles, California. The unit numbers are one of the most customizable signs when it comes to required signage so we had fun with the design. These unit number signs were made from acrylic panels which the unit numbers were routed out of. To make sure they were up to code, we added tactile unit numbers as well along with Braille. We also made room identification signs and flood identification signs that match black and silver style of the unit number signs, just without the routed out detail. Directional signs are crucial for wayfinding in any apartment complex, especially for a multi-floor building like this one so every floor, unit, and room is indicated with custom sigange.
There are other signs such as FDC connection signs and handicap signs that we cannot change the design of, but we make sure that they are made from high-quality material for durability. We also made a bang bar and parking signs for the parking garage.
