We were contacted by an existing customer of ours for some vehicle graphics for their new company van. Shoppe Amber Interiors is a home and lifestyle store with two locations, one in Calabasas and a new location in the Pacific Palisades. The company vehicle was to have the company logo and contact information on the sides and rear so they could advertise on the go.
For all of our vehicle graphics, and also for our wall graphics, we use Avery Dennison brand car wrap material. Car wrap material is much more durable than vinyl, which is why we even use it for wall graphics. As drywall is rarely completely flat, we have found that car wrap material sticks to interior walls much better than vinyl. We start with glossy white car wrap material and digitally print whatever color, image, or pattern onto the material. This is much more efficient than using the pre-colored vinyl because it is not guaranteed that the vinyl will be available in the color that the client requires. For example, Amber Interiors wanted a custom off-black color that they sent us via an AI file. Instead of trying to come close with one of the colors offered, we decided to digitally print the color to make sure it matched exactly. The letters were then plotted out of the printed material to create the lettering.
The font was also picked out specifically by the client and they provided us with the font file along with the AI file. The reason that we require the AI file is because it’s the master file that is a vector file. Vector graphics, as opposed to raster graphics, can be blown up to any size without losing quality, and we can move around information if needed to fit the appropriate medium that the logo is being used for.
