There are many different types of lobby signs we can make for your business depending on your logo and your office layout. Arete Associates had an existing lobby sign but they were updating their logo so we made them an acrylic dimensional letter sign. Dimensional letter signs are individual letters that get mounted directly onto the wall. This works great for logos that don’t have little pieces and if they are going to be installed onto flat interior drywall.
The letters, characters, and any other components get routed from a flat sheet of acrylic and each piece is mounted individually, so if there are smaller pieces the production and installation can become very difficult. In these cases, we offer lobby signs with backer panels where the logo is installed on a backer panel first, commonly acrylic, and the sign is installed as one piece.
It is easiest to install dimensional letter signs on flat drywall, especially if we’re going to mount using studs. A hole needs to be drilled for each stud and each letter has multiple studs. If you have an interior wall made from brick or concrete, the wall could become damaged during drilling. In these cases, we use other installation methods such as using special drill bits or using adhesives to mount the sign.
This acrylic dimensional letter sign for Arete Associates was made from 1/2″ thick acrylic for the larger pieces and 1/4″ acrylic for the smaller letters at the bottom. The acrylic itself was clear with polished edges and the faces have digitally printed vinyl on the faces to match their logo color. Digitally printing a logo color helps us make sure that it matches exactly. Digitally printing was also the only option for the logo as there was a gradient in it.
