Construction companies are always looking for sign companies to assist them with their ADA signage because all new buildings need to be ADA compliant. When it comes to ADA signs, the most common signs we make are room identification signs. If a building has more than one room, room ID signs are a must for wayfinding. ADA signs have strict requirements to make sure that they are up to code, but with our knowledge of ADA signs, we can make custom signs that the client will be happy with that are still ADA compliant.
The signs we made for NantWorks in Culver City were for the parking garage. As you can see from the photos, these are black signs with white lettering. ADA signs need to be easy to read so the letters need to contrast well against the background. This is also why we use sans serif font for ADA signs. Not only is it easier to read, but it is also easier to feel the letters when there are no additional stylings on the font. All room identification signs need Braille and raised text for those with visual impairment. Not every person with visual impairments can read Braille, which is why we also include raised text. The letters are also required to be 5/8″ tall, and there are certain regulations regarding the placement of the sign.
With so many different things to consider, ADA signs can be difficult to implement into your new building when there are so many different aspects of construction going on. This is why construction companies find a sign company that they can trust with all of their projects so they can be assured that all of their signs will be ADA compliant.
