Front-lit channel letter signs are one of the most popular building signs that we make for clients because the illumination allows the sign to be seen even at nighttime, and since the faces light up, we can illuminate any color or image. Bartz-Altadonna found our company online and reached out to us for their building sign. They had an existing sign but it was non-illuminated and did not include their logo. They were seeking out a sign company that could make them an illuminated sign that featured the business name and the logo.
We went through two different layouts of the sign. One version had the logo on the left and “Bartz-Altadonna” and “Community Health Center” stacked on top of each other on the right. After seeing the rendering, the client decided to change the layout so the logo was in the middle of “Bartz-Altadonna” and “Community Health Center”, and the information wasn’t stacked so it could take up more of the width of the facade. As you can see from the photos, this is the layout that the client signed off on. This layout increased the height of the letters from about 9.9″ to 11.5″ tall which makes them much more visible. Most clients choose to optimize the size of their sign letters so their business name can be as legible as possible.
We laid translucent vinyl for the letters and for the different colors in the logo. We used pre-colored translucent vinyl because it lasts longer than a digital print. The only downside is that we may not be able to match the logo colors exactly, however, we gave the client the vinyl options of two companies so they could pick out colors that would come close to their logo color. The reason we use translucent vinyl is so the LEDs can shine through the vinyl which is laid on a translucent acrylic face.
