Your reception area is the first room that someone will see when entering your business which is why it is a popular place to install a logo sign. Especially if you are located in an office building and don't have a storefront, it's up to your interior signage to make a good impression. Roncelli Plastics, a plastic fabrication company in Monrovia, California, contacted us after finding us online to get a custom interior logo sign. They are located in their own building and had an existing building sign, but they wanted their logo displayed inside of the location as well. From the first time we spoke with them on the phone, they already knew that they wanted the logo to be displayed on a panel. We used a 1/4" clear acrylic backer panel. 1/4" is a pretty standard thickness for an acrylic backer panel lobby sign, unless it's going to be larger than normal. In that case, we up the thickness to 3/8". The reason we use acrylic is because it comes in clear so you can see through to the wall. Glass also has the same effect, but it is not only more expensive, it is also heavier. The decided that they didn't care to have the logo 3-dimensional, so we digitally printed it onto 3M vinyl. For signs, we either use opaque or translucent vinyl. Translucent vinyl is typically used when a sign is internally illuminated so the color can be seen at night time. In this case, the sign doesn't need to be illuminated so we used opaque vinyl. Before the graphics were plotted from the vinyl, they were laminated with glossy Oraguard laminate. The lamination adds a glossy finish, and also helps with longevity. As this sign is not going to be exposed to UV rays, this digital print will last a very long time.
