We received a call from a local parking garage, Atlas Capital Group, who were in need of new directional signage for their facility. Wayfinding signs are a crucial piece of the puzzle when you are trying to find your way in a parking garage. From the moment you drive through the entrance, to finding your way to each level and then down again, wayfinding or directional signs are generally unappreciated but vital for a successful parking garage experience.
As you can see in the image, exemplary parking garage signage is clear to everyone entering and exiting the facility. Our high-quality signage fits the environment but stands out enough to be read easily.

For this wayfinding project, we created and installed numerous signs in the parking garage. These signs were, “No Parking” signs, elevator directional signs, warning signs, and bang bars. All of the warning and no parking signs were installed on the walls or the pillars in the garage. The warning signs are a very visible red, because they are cautionary signs, alerting people when they are parking their vehicles.
The choice of typefaces has a great impact on readability. As these signs were not for decorative purposes, we chose Avenir Medium, a sans serif font that is easily readable.
The “No Parking” signs were made in a similar way to the warning signs, except they carried a different message. Parking garages can fill up pretty quickly and when they do people tend to want to park their vehicle anywhere. This is not only illegal but also dangerous for those who will then find it difficult to exit their parking space. We helped Atlas Capital stop this behavior with new “No Parking” signs.
Bang bars show you how much clearance you have in case your vehicle is taller than average. They are crucial for avoiding accidents.
We also created signage, including wall signs, to help people to find the elevator. We put up signs guiding people to the elevators. Every parking garage is different, so we custom-made these signs so they are perfect for the environment in question.
