Los Gatos, CA - BMW 3 Series Engine Diagnostic Test for Recurring Warning Lights

BMW owners often dread the normal maintenance and repair which is associated with these vehicles. For this reason, when a warning light comes on the dashboard, it’s often a source of anxiety. However, you can save time, money, and stress by working with a local auto pro.

Our team is a leading provider of automotive services for people in and around San Jose. We work on all types of cars, but our technicians are well versed in high end vehicles like BMWs. It takes an experienced, patient, and educated professional to take on BMW repair and maintenance, and we have the ideal team to help with your vehicle needs.

BMW 3 Series are great cars with a tremendous amount of high tech features which help them drive comfortably, provide maximum horsepower, and have excellent driver features. However, the complexity of these cars can make them prone to issues. In this article, we will discuss our diagnostic process for 3 Series which are displaying warning lights.

Common 3 Series Warnings

There are many reasons why your check engine light might display in a 3 Series. We work on many 3 Series, and in our experience the common issues include a loose or malfunctioning gas cap, issues with the vehicle’s emissions system, coolant leaks, low oil level, and turbocharger problems. While this is certainly not an exhaustive list, these are the most prevalent problems we encounter. If you have an engine light which is always on, or pops up frequently, it’s best to have the car examined before a major issue occurs.

Engine Lights Explained

Even if you have no experience with cars, the engine lights can clue you in on what the issue is with your car. Newer 3 Series might display an error message on the screen along with the warning light, and you might see a specific code displayed which indicates the area of concern. If your model doesn’t display an error message or you aren’t sure of the severity of the issue, check the color and status of the warning light. If the light is yellow and constantly on, it’s indicative of an issue which should be addressed, but does not put the car in immediate danger. If the light is red and/or flashing, this indicates a serious issue which should be taken care of immediately. If the problem is serious enough, the vehicle might even go into limp mode to protect itself from further damage.

Our Diagnostic Process

Whether you have a serious issue or it’s just time for service and the engine light is on, you can be sure your car is in good hands with us. When we diagnose a vehicle, we use our computer system to determine where the issue is originating from, and then we perform a thorough hands-on inspection. We can typically locate the problem quickly, and we’re always transparent with our clients about the issue, our plan to fix it, and the timeline for the repair.

If your check engine light is on, don’t wait for the issue to get worse. Come see us today for professional, friendly, and fair service.
