UC Riverside is a returning client. In the past, we assisted the school with wall graphics and murals for its student store, new facility signs, and 3M wall wraps. Other projects we tackled were the refacing of several monuments as well as post and panel signs. This time, we returned to add another set of new sign faces for a monument sign in Riverside, CA.
Building Name Change Calls for Monument Sign Refurbishing
The preschool at 3333 Watkins Drive used to be known as the Development Center UC Riverside. The administration determined that the Center for Early Childhood Education was a better name for the facility. With the building name change came the need to update the property’s monument sign.
The old setup featured three-dimensional lettering mounted to the face. Our solution for covering up the holes and other marks left behind by the letters was a refacing. Not only did it allow us to maintain the integrity of the monument’s structure, but it also kept costs down for the client.
The client liked the idea, and our technicians went to work. They produced cast vinyl graphics using the same design and UCR’s color palette that we had previously used. Next, we mounted the imprinted vinyl on aluminum composite panels. The materials do well in direct sunlight and are sufficiently sturdy to withstand rainstorms and similar inclement weather.
Now, when you walk across the campus, you will notice the consistency of the monument signs as they feature similar construction and color details.
New Graphics for Monument Signs Have Several Advantages
Did you know you do not have to undergo rebranding or a complete building name change to take advantage of new sign faces for a monument sign in Riverside, CA? We often work with clients looking for ways to freshen their corporate identity displays on signage products. When does it make sense to redo a monument sign?
- Missing style elements. Did you notice this client was missing some letters from the original monument sign setup? Broken signs and missing letters are signs that it is high time to make a change. We can replace missing letters or go in a completely different direction with the design.
- Building color changes. If you have made changes to the building advertised by the monument sign, it may be necessary to adjust the look of the signage. Doing so is of particular importance if you change the base color.
- Upgrades. Sometimes, a sign simply needs updating. What looked great 20 years ago might look outdated today. A fresh monument sign face can still make a significant difference even if you do not change fonts or colors.
