Earlier, we worked with Fuller Stone Care to design, produce, and install fleet vehicle wraps. The client was committed to embracing the mobile marketing revolution with its entire fleet of vehicles. After focusing attention on the vans, we now transitioned to the trucks. For these box trucks, we designed another set of commercial truck wraps in Orange County, CA.
Meeting a Design Challenge Head On
Typically, we would adjust the specs of the wraps we just did for the Sprinter vans to transfer onto the box trucks. However, these two trucks were a bit of a challenge. They have a square vent on one side where the heat comes out when the crew operates the stone polishing equipment inside the vehicles.
We had to work around the heat and any residual moisture that would come from these vents. Our graphic artist determined that we could still use the same designs. However, they would have to combine a partial wrap with decals and lettering. To the customer, there is no visual clue that the wrap was not one continuous piece of vinyl.
To the insider, it is a markedly clever way of working around a problematic area. If we had not opted for the workaround, the wrap portion around the vents could have discolored or begun peeling. Of course, this would have been unacceptable since the client expects all parts of the vehicle vinyl treatment to last for many years.
We Work Around Vents, Rivets, Doors, and Other Features
The advantage of custom trucks and vans is that they make serving your customers possible. At the same time, they present our graphic artist with the added challenge of working around features interrupting the wrap design flow. Moreover, rolling doors require special attention to ensure full integration of the portion into the wrap’s overall look.
It is interesting to note that rivets are actually less of a challenge than you might imagine. When we encounter them during the design of commercial delivery truck wraps, our graphic artist knows that the installation team knows how to fit the material perfectly over the protrusions. That said, it does affect the type of vinyl we might use.
