The Dad Miller Golf Course had a problem. Located at 430 North Gilbert Street, the venue was recently taken over by a new ownership team. This golf course is famous for its well-maintained 18 holes, budget-friendly greens fees, and scrumptious clubhouse food. However, its monument sign looked as though it had taken a beating. The team contacted our sign shop to have us assist with new sign faces in Anaheim.
Serving a Returning Client with a Monument Sign Refurbishing
In the past, Superior Signs and Graphics had undertaken several signage projects such as pole banners and advertising markers for the banquet facilities. The new owners liked our past work. To spruce up the facility’s look and feel, it was essential to work on the monument sign, which had several problems.
For starters, what was once clear acrylic had become marred and scratched by countless maintenance professionals who attempted to scrape off graffiti. Also, the panels did not fit well, which led to their falling out of the sign periodically. Most importantly, the facing material had undergone severe sun damage so that the graphics that were installed on the back of the acrylic had begun to peel off.
Our technicians visited the location and ensured that the monument sign’s overall structure was sound. Next, we designed a new facing graphic that incorporates the colors that players see on the course’s website. We then applied the graphics to white translucent acrylic panels.
However, we were not done. Because graffiti is a bit of an issue in the area, we added a Vandalguard anti-graffiti laminate for easy removal of graffiti in the future. This product is an excellent choice for the business owner who wants to protect a new signage investment.
Why Vandalguard Works Better Than Scrubbing and Scraping
The old golf course sign exemplifies the problem you can run into when attempting to clean signage that is not treated with anti-graffiti laminates. Most incidents will require you to use scrub cleaners that scratch the sign’s surface. Over time, the polycarbonate or acrylic surface has so many fine grooves and scratches that it dulls. This damage also makes it more susceptible to yellowing, which is a side effect of constant sun exposure.
In contrast, the anti-graffiti laminate protects your investment in the sign. You do not have to scrape and scrub. Instead, you apply a commercial graffiti removal spray that works in conjunction with the laminate. Then, you simply wipe off the scribbles. Your sign looks as good as new. Best of all, there are no scratches that damage the sign.
