East Bay Area HVAC experts can help keep you cool

If you have ever experienced an AC outage in the summertime, you know how quickly the temperature can begin to rise in your home without air conditioning. No one wants to be without air, but when your unit stops working you might not know where to turn.

Our company is based here in the East Bay Area and we have had the opportunity to serve the HVAC needs of people in Concord, Pittsburg, Walnut Creek and the entire surrounding area. It’s our goal to keep your home comfortable, and our licensed technicians have the know-how to correct any HVAC issues.

In today’s article, we’re going to cover some basic FAQs about our air conditioner repair service. If we can help you feel more comfortable in your home, don’t hesitate to call us today!

Is AC repair expensive?

Our most common question we get when people call for their initial consultation is “how much will this cost me?” And we totally get it, you need air but you also need to make sure you can control your expenses, no one likes an unexpected bill.

Our team is trained to offer a customer-first experience, and it’s our pledge to never oversell or offer services you do not need. We also always try to maintain a unit before recommending a replacement. On average, the typical repair bill for our services can fall anywhere between $100 and $600, depending on the issue.

What is the most common AC issue?

Most of the time, when we are called to address an AC unit which is not working, it’s because the unit is frozen. While this might not seem logical (an AC unit getting TOO cold?), a frozen coil on the unit can shut it down completely and keep cool air from entering your home.

When a unit is frozen, it’s typically because it lacks enough coolant to run properly. When this happens, our technicians will allow the unit to thaw, address the lack of coolant by adding more and/or repairing any leaks, and then the unit is usually ready to get back to work as soon as it is thawed out.

If your AC does go out, it might be a good idea to turn the air off and go take a look at the connection between the unit and the house. If there is a layer of ice present, the unit is likely frozen and you should keep it off until a technician arrives. Luckily, this is usually an easy and inexpensive fix.

When should a unit be replaced instead of repaired?

Our technicians are trained to get as much useful life out of an existing unit as possible, but in some scenarios it simply makes more sense to replace rather than repair.

Some things to consider are the cost of repair, how much useful life will remain after repair, if the unit is under warranty and what the cost of a new unit installation would be.

Our team members can have an honest conversation with you if you’re in this situation and help you make the best choice for your home and your financial situation.
