Local business coach helps brewers’ business plans

Business coaches exist to combine their vast knowledge of the corporate world with their clients’ passion and expertise in a given field. This marriage of skill sets often produces fantastic results, especially when the coach has a vast working knowledge of the local market. While the term “business coach” might seem most appropriate for people who work in high-rise office buildings who wear suits every day, many coaches thrive working with smaller, local businesses whose owners are masters at what they do but might need some assistance when it comes to the business side of things. As a local business coach, I thoroughly enjoy and have a passion for helping business owners reach their goals by using my experience gained through decades of corporate experience. I work with clients in and around Cincinnati, Ohio, and have consulted with business leaders of all industries, business types and sizes. There are many proven methods of assistance I can provide for clients of any field, including time management, assistance crafting policies and procedures, helping to understand governmental and local regulations and much more, but the most valuable service I offer for most clients is strategic planning. In this article, I will discuss some elements of strategic planning for one of my favorite types of clients: breweries. I enjoy working with brewers because their businesses are unique and many can thrive with some help on the business side of things. Even if you make the best product available, your business could still struggle without effective planning. Brewers often spend their time and resources on their products, and rightfully so, but crafting business strategy can be just as valuable as the perfect craft beer. When it comes to strategic planning, it should always be done in the light of the owner’s goals. I always listen to my clients and create a plan for them, not a cookie-cutter solution. An owner might want to become a national brand, they might want to sell out for a quick profit or they might just want to create a long-lasting staple of the community. The right plan for each of those situations will look very different. Crafting a strategy examines internal and external factors which affect a business, and how you can take advantage of those factors to reach your goals. During strategic planning, we examine what a brewery does well and where they struggle, which allows us to correctly focus resources to either take advantage of their strengths or limit their weaknesses. Strategy also looks externally, at opportunities for growth or threats to the business’s success. Taking each of these factors into account and examining them through the lens of the brewer’s goals allows us to correctly plan the next steps for the business. Rather than aimlessly working toward a goal, we use these factors to make concrete steps for improvement and growth. If you own a brewery or any other small business in the Cincinnati area and feel you could benefit from the services of a business professional, fill out the form on my website or give me a call today to start getting the most out of your company.
