Tempe-Based Gun Range Offers a Wide Selection

From time to time, our team of NRA-certified experts, many of whom have experience as law enforcement officers or in the military, test out guns from our store and give their feedback for people who might be interested in purchasing them. Today, we tested out Springfield’s XD 9mm handgun, and our findings are summed up in the sections to follow.
Right out of the box it’s easy to see this is a versatile weapon. We tested the model with the 4” barrel, and it’s powerful enough for a legitimate personal defense option but also light and small enough to consider carrying every day. Featuring an accessory rail, the XD has the ability to be customized to fit almost any need. First impressions of the gun before shooting include its impressively light weight, standard three-dot sights and a capacity of 16+1 for plenty of stopping power.
On the range, this gun punched above its weight in terms of comparison to more expensive guns in its class. After feeding hundreds of rounds, we didn’t experience any issues and it displayed admirable accuracy and the trigger pull of the XD provided enough resistance during its short pull to inspire confidence in every shot.
While we obviously can’t test overall longevity in one or two range sessions, the XD has a positive track record for holding up well even with extended use over the years. The barrel of the 9mm is hammer forged and features Melonite coating both inside and out, which helps the gun hold up to the elements and normal wear and tear.
You won’t find a better value in a gun at its price point, provided you are comfortable with the feel of the gun and its overall shooting mechanisms. Take this one for a test drive at our range if you’re interested, you won’t regret it.
