Course Requirements While there are no prerequisites for our CCW basic training class, there are prerequisites to become certified as a CCW citizen. The Arizona Department of Safety says you must be at least 21 years old, a lawful resident or citizen of the U.S., and submit to a criminal background check. The background check must find that you have no felony convictions, not be a prohibited possessor, have no domestic violence convictions, and not be a substance abuser. If you have any of these on your record, you are still able to take our CCW 1 class and learn what it takes to be certified, but the Department of Safety will not certify you as a CCW citizen. CCW 1: Basic Concealed Carry Weapon Our Basic CCW training class is a 4-hour non-shooting class that is designed to give you all the knowledge you need to successfully be certified by the Arizona Department of Safety as a CCW citizen. Topics that are covered include gun safety and responsibilities as well as the basics of using force and the laws surrounding CCW. Secondary topics in this class include understanding how to interact with law enforcement as a CCW citizen and your rights as well as navigating violent encounters and their aftermath. It is also a non-shooting class with a focus on judgemental and legal use of force. Every Day Carry Principles Our final course in CCW basic training is meant for those who are already certified. This class takes place completely on the range and is great for shooters of any level including seasoned CCW citizens.
