Our indoor gun range is all about fostering community and family. But that can be hard to do without your immediate family being able to share in your passion for shooting. Since there is an age restriction on range shooting, we have decided to offer family & youth gun training classes at our range, to help bring the whole family together.
These classes are specifically design with youth shooting abilities and family values in mind. Our instructors are all NRA certified and some of the best in the state. They know how to balance teaching the essential knowledge you and your kids need with fun times for everyone. During these classes, kids will learn the fundamental skills they need to handle firearms, and parents will learn some best practices for being responsible on the range while making the most of family time.
Family Firearm Safety
The first class we offer for youth & family is the Family Firearm Safety course. The title seems fairly self-explanatory, but this class focuses entirely on firearm safety surrounding the family.
During this class, the instructor will discuss with you about your individual family needs regarding firearm safety in the home. They will also cover how to best be prepared for parents with kids in the house. Then they will focus on teaching your children about the five rules for safe gun handling and storage and what to do if they find a gun in someone else’s home.
Youth Introduction to Firearms
The second class in the youth & family series is the Youth Introduction to Firearms. This class is specifically designed for youth with zero prior shooting experience, regardless of whether their parent is a regular at the range. This class will teach kids the practical side of using a firearm with dry practice and live-fire drills.
Since we will be on the range and using real bullets, we require children to be at least 6 years of age before taking this class. Each child must also have a parent accompany them.
After this class, youth will know how to perform safety/conditions check, load/unload a magazine and firearm, and safely shoot on the range. Parents will learn how to coach their child in shooting and create a positive yet safe experience on the range for the family as a whole.
Our only current family & youth preparedness course is Glock Maintenance. This class is taught by an instructor who has specific training and experience with the Glock pistol. This class will give you a complete guide to the Glock pistol include full disassembly and reassembly beyond the field standards.
We cap this class at a maximum of 10 students to allow for the most effective 1-on-1 instruction. We provide you with a Glock disassembly tool for the duration of the class, but you will need to bring your own pistol. A cleaning kit is also recommended for this class, but is not required and will not be provided.
