Mesa, AZ – Reviewing the GLOCK 9mm 34 Gen4 Pistol | Gun/Shooting Range News

SYNOPSIS:

Wondering why GLOCK 9mm 34 makes a good shooting range weapon?

Read on to know why you should use the Glock 34 for your next gun range session!

GLOCK 34 is a 9mm pistol with an extended barrel and better slide dimensions. The reason to develop this version of GLOCK was to provide a highly-accurate pistol that can be used for sporting events, shooting ranges and IPSC competitions.

At C2 Tactical, GLOCK 34 Gen4 is part of the gun rentals that we provide for all the shooters who come to our range. If you wish to use this GLOCK for your next session, you should consider the following:

Appearance

GLOCK, in general, is a plain-looking gun with a hollowed-out slide. The corners are well-rounded and have cocking cuts in the rear. The GLOCK 34 has a lightning cut that keeps the weight down. However, there’s nothing fancy about the grip zones and the GLOCK logo on the weapon.

The thing that actually makes this appearance work is GLOCK’s marketing strategy. Most people accept the iconography and believe that this is how a handgun should look like.

Quality

The latest Gen4 GLOCK pistols have a smoother finish than their previous versions. The earlier Gen4s sported a rough texture, but the newer models have a resilient finish. However, with extended use and time, the slide may show minor holster marks.

GLOCK barrels also have the same finish as the slide, but the barrel can start wearing out at the hood after 500 to 700 +/- rounds. The finish will show the effects after more than 1000 rounds have been fired.

Utilization

There is no manual safety to disengage in a GLOCK. The safe action trigger is the safety required by any shooter. Therefore, if you are not used to holding a weapon without a manual safety, it’s better to practice with a GLOCK first, before having a competitive session or buying it for personal use.

As for magazines, there’s a huge button on the Gen4s, but it’s not easy to use. It uses the same amount of force as Gen3’s smaller release. The button pressing is not just about throwing the thumb and releasing the magazine. You’ll have to shift your grip and engage the button using your firing hand’s thumb.

Disassembly

The ease of disassembly of GLOCK weapons is unsurpassed. First, you need to drop the magazine, rack the slide, check the empty chamber, load the empty weapon, point in a safe direction, and shoot.

After that, you can pull back the slide slightly and move the takedown tabs towards the floor using your free hand. This will result in the slide exiting the gun from the front. The whole process takes no more than 10 seconds!
