Manifest Sign was recently introduced to the Puzzle Art Installation and Collaborative Project. We are excited to see participation in this project by some in the Snohomish School district. This innovative program sends a wonderful message where students can participate in the process that art is an essential element to life. The program emphasizes that students don’t need to be artists to participate; you simply need something to say. Students are asked to create their art piece as an individual story, where every story is different, and serves as a reflection on the uniqueness of each student. Each puzzle piece is large enough to allow variety in what needs to be said. A story can be conveyed through a variety of materials that cater to the task at hand. Manifest Sign shares in the excitement of this program and is happy to be asked to help facilitate by providing large sized foam core sheets that can then be cut down and used as the core structure of the puzzle. Puzzle Art Construction
The puzzle art project is being supported by a growing variety of groups ranging from schools to corporations, various communities and art groups. It is reported that a number of states and international programs are actively using this 
method of teaching. Puzzle elements are cut from large foam board creating 24” x 24” pieces, then shaped to interconnect. The puzzle is not limited to a 2D experience, rather individual pieces can be designed such that they fit together to create 3D structure to be constructed as a group collaborative art installation. The foam board used must be thick enough to stand up to the weight and structure of the puzzle construction yet lightweight enough not to overburden the growing structure. Various thickness options of foam board exist, but thicknesses on the order of 3/16” is a good starting point for the target structures to hold structure.
Reaching out to the Community
Manifest Sign is excited to see art programs of the nature, and participating in small measure by providing some of the resource elements to help make this happen.
