Did you recently face an engine misfire? Read on to understand how you can deal with the issue.

There is no doubt that BMW beats every car out there when it comes to performance. However, to make sure the car runs properly over time, it’s the drivers’ responsibility to ensure proper maintenance as the German vehicle ages over time.Inspection Service

Although timely maintenance can help reduce many vehicle issues, not all car malfunctions can be anticipated and prevented. Despite its impeccable design and functionalities, BMW is not immune to engine misfires, which certainly sounds like a scary experience.

If you’re a BMW owner and have faced an engine misfire, here is how you can address the issue:

How to Deal with a BMW Engine Misfire

At the earliest stages, the signs of the issue will arise when the car is pushed hard with tuning, coupled with aggressive driving. Misfires resulting from a combination of aggressive driving, tuning, and bolt-on parts will typically show trouble codes, alerting you to check the engine.

In some cases, however, the vehicle will not throw any check engine codes, and only the driver may be able to sense the misfire.

Usually it’s the degradation of plugs and coils that result in misfire issues, which is why you should consider replacing the coil packs and spark plugs. When you face the misfire issue for the first time, your first step should be to change the spark plugs. To remove them, you will need an 8mm driver, BMW specific plug tool, a 5mm Hex driver, and a torque wrench.

If you continue to see misfire codes after this change, swap the coil packs to an alternative cylinder to diagnose them. Replace the coil pack if the misfire code follows the coil pack.

If, however, the misfire remains in that cylinder, there might be an injector issue or a mechanical ailment.
